eFootball: Konami Extend Partnership With FC Barcelona

In a groundbreaking move, FC Barcelona and KONAMI have signed a new deal that stretches their alliance on the eFootball series franchise for multiple seasons to come.

The Japanese gaming powerhouse partnership with FC Barcelona retains the football club as a global and official video gaming partner in eFootball and this underlines their mutual ambition to skyrocket football and digital amusement together.

In accordance with the deal, KONAMI gains exclusive access to the elite senior squad in FC Barcelona squad, a move which is part of their master plan to infuse successful games with thrilling real-life players and action. This means past renowned Barça Legends will be kept in the successive Konami football game series.

Earlier this year, in July 2023, EA Sports also renewed its partnership with Premier League to extend the availability of all Premier League players on FC 24 and beyond.

In a statement released by Barcelona on the renewal, this isn’t just a contract renewal; it’s a resounding commitment.

“We’re thrilled to rekindle our bond with KONAMI, a company that’s stood by FC Barcelona unwaveringly. KONAMI’s gaming prowess opens new doors to youthful audiences, spearheading our digital entertainment journey.”

Juli Guiu, the FC Barcelona Marketing Area’s vice-president said.

“It’s a monumental moment as we extend this victorious partnership. FC Barcelona’s global footprint merges with the eFootball™ series, assuring years of commercial and esports brilliance. This pact fuels KONAMI’s quest for the ultimate user experience.”

Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.’s European President, added with excitement.

KONAMI and FC Barcelona’s partnership, which started in 2016, led the game gaint to supported FC Barcelona Foundation with a $100,000 donation. In 2018, FC Barcelona participated eFootball.Pro competition organized by Konami.

The first partnership renewal between FC Barcelona and Konami occurred 2019 with a new Global Partnership agreement. This agreement provide extensive access to Konami on Barca club such as Lionel Messi appearing on the cover of the new edition of eFootball PES 2020.
