In a surprising twist, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry found himself in disbelief when he reviewed Cristiano Ronaldo’s stats in EA FC 24, the latest edition of the popular football video game by EA Sports.
EA Sports FC 24, previously known as FIFA, made its highly anticipated debut earlier this month, but it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Ronaldo.
The 38-year-old football icon experienced his most significant drop in ratings in the last 16 years, with his current score standing at 86, down from the previous year’s 90.
During the FC 24 launch event, Henry was presented with a card that belonged to an unnamed player from the Saudi Pro League.
As he examined the player’s pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, and physicality stats, he couldn’t identify the individual.
When Cristiano Ronaldo’s face finally appeared, Henry couldn’t hide his disbelief, exclaiming, “No, that’s not him,” and adding, “Wow, that’s bad.”
Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi side in January of the same year after departing from Manchester United in late 2022, has been in impressive form, scoring 16 goals in just 15 games this season.
However, even his remarkable performance wasn’t enough to maintain his stats in the 90s.
Despite playing in a league that may not be considered the strongest globally, other Saudi Pro League players like Karim Benzema and Neymar boast ratings of 90 and 89, respectively.
As a matter of fact, Ronaldo’s long-time rival, Lionel Messi, who now plies his trade with Inter Miami in the MLS, also holds a rating of 90.
